Biografie
Beginnings
Dutchman Raymond Teunisse (aka DJ Raymundo) developed his passion for music at a very young age. He was inspired by his father's love of 80's synth pop (Hot Butter, Jean Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk). He knew very quickly that his future lay in music.
Raymond's DJ career began as a teenager on an illegal pirate radio station in a small coastal town, hearing house music for the first time. The radio station allowed him to meet former Escape resident DJ Marcello, who was spinning at the famous Club IT in Amsterdam at the time. Marcello gave Raymond the opportunity to start playing in the same club, an incredible opportunity at such a young age.
The Past
Throughout the 90's, Raymond built his name in clubs throughout the Netherlands. Then one day, out of the blue, it happened. He was asked to become resident of the finest club in the country, the Escape Venue. For many years Raymundo has consistently rocked his Saturday night residency entitled Framebusters. Crucially, he is also the talent booker, inviting national and international top DJ's (Roger Sanchez, Fedde le Grand, David Guetta, The Shapeshifters, Axwell, etc) to offer the top night out in Amsterdam. As he says himself: "The Escape's status as Amsterdam's finest club means so much to me because I have been resident DJ and programmer for so many years. The endless queues each and every weekend are further evidence of our leading position in Dutch nightlife".
Looking back over the years, Raymond has headlined major festivals such as Dance Valley, Mystery Land, Loveland Festival and almost every club throughout the Netherlands including Hotel Arena, Hed Kandi, Panama, Nighttown, Republiek Bloemendaal, Las Palmas, Sinners, Roxy, It, Girls Love DJ's, Loveland ADE, Supperclub, Powerzone, Beachbop, Countdown (tv) and many more. He is also frequently booked outside of Holland in places as far flung as Dubai, USA and Egypt.
The Present
Ray has found a rich vein of form in the studio as of late. Raymundo, along with Gabriel & Castellon, have been responsible for one of the anthems of the year so far, with a track entitled "Change". The track has been huge, and was voted the Twitter track of the Day on Dutch radio station SLAM!FM, gaining serious airplay and DJ support, even from Tiësto! It was also snapped up for Hed Kandi's Miami release, which is fitting as Ray himself attended the 2011 Winter Music Conference in Miami.
The previous collaboration also worked its magic, a production entitled "Absolute (Perfect World)", as did Ray's hookup with former Klubbheads member Addy van der Zwan on the track "Fortuna".
In addition, 2011 is a very special year for Raymundo for another reason, as he is set to celebrate 20 years behind the decks. Two major events are planned to mark this milestone; the first is scheduled at the beach on 17th July at Mangos in Zandvoort, the second event will be at Ray's own Framebusters residency. It will be held at the legendary Escape Venue in Amsterdam on 30th July, and will feature a not to be missed set from Ray himself, with special surprise acts and DJ's to be announced.
March 2011 is also huge for Ray, as it's the 6 year birthday of his own night Framebusters. Ray will be joined on the decks throughout the month by special guests The Shapeshifters and Prok & Fitch.
The Future
Ray has some serious studio plans for 2011 coming off the back of the "Change" hit, and expect this DJ to be in even more demand with the pending release of forward-thinking tracks which are expected to sit firmly in the CD wallets of the DJ that matter, for example Raymundo is asked to make a 2011 remix from the 80's classic "Yeke Yeke" by More Kante! This hard-working DJ Framebusters residency at
Amsterdam's legendary Escape club continues to go from strength to strength. Watch out for even more from this talented and experienced Dutch DJ/producer in the near future!
